Eyelet Shawl

The Eyelet Scarf by Rosemary Drysdale is simply stunning and it's made using only 1 ball of Tsubame, a super soft wool/silk blend that is such a joy to work with!

It's knit on size US 8 needles and is available as a kit.

Already have Tsubame in your stash? The pattern is available here.

You can also use Ito, another worsted weight big ball with a lot of yardage.

Silk Garden or Kureyon will work as well. You'll need approximately 656 yards.

Judy, Gilda and Diane will be on the line. We hope you'll join us!

Oh and yes.... there will be prizes donated by Gilda/Knitting Fever!

Malabrigo KAL April 2020!

April 01, 2020

April 28 - Done!

Simply gorgeous!

April 1 Update: Cast on!

Sonja is using size US 6 needles.

Sonja's tip: don't knit this too tight or it will be hard to pick up stitches. There are plenty of good resources on You Tube for garter tab cast-ons.

Join us for the first ever Malabrigo KAL!

We'll be knitting the Odyssey Shawl by Joji Locatelli.  The yarn is Dos Tierras, a super luscious merino/alpaca blend with amazing drape! Malabrigo is introducing three new colors for this KAL.

With 35 colors of Dos Tierras, you can put together your own beautiful combination! All it takes is one skein of each of three colors of Dos Tierras.

Participants will be eligible to win prizes during different stages of the KAL.   Sign up here to win prizes from Malabrigo.  Stay tuned for more info!

Want to prepare in advance? You can snag the pattern here (it's a freebie) and the yarn here

Here's a proposed schedule:

April 1 - Cast on! The suggested gauge is 17.5 sts per 4 inches.

April 1 to 12 - Work to the end of Lace Band 1.

April 13 to 19 - Work to the end of Lace Band 2.

April 20 to 27 - Work to the end of Lace Band 3

April 28 - Picot bind off

April 29 to 30 - Wash and block

May 1 - Take pictures of yourself wearing your new beauty!

May 5 - Big prize winner announced!

PLEASE NOTE!!!  A few pattern modifications have to be made due to the yardage difference between Dos Tierras and the yarn Joji used in her pattern.

It is very important that you do a gauge swatch before starting this project.  In order to ensure you do not run out of yarn, you need to obtain a gauge of 17-18 stitches over 4 inches before blocking.  Depending on whether you are a loose or tight knitter, the needle size may vary. A size US8 needle might be a good place to start.
You may need to unravel your swatch for your project. We recommend you use the middle color of your shawl for swatching.
