Sashiko, meaning "little stabs" was developed in Japan during the Edo period (1603–1867) as a practical way to mend, reinforce, and warm working garments.
It's quickly gaining popularity throughout world for decorative purposes as well as creative mending. It's also a popular craft for relaxation becuase the slow rhythmic running stitches act as a form of active meditation. Concentration on the grid pattern quiets mental chatter. It's a stress free creative outlet since you don't need sewing skills.
In your first session, Judy will get you started on your sashiko journey. In your second class, you will learn how to create a little pouch using your finished piece.

The class will take place in person at our San Francisco shop located at 3897 18th Street.

Supplies are not included in the cost of the class. If you choose to purchase supplies on the day of the class, plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to the class start time.
If you need to cancel your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible and at least 48 hours ahead of the day and we will issue a store credit for the cost of the class. Day before or day of cancellations will result in a forfeiture of the class cost. No shows cannot be credited or refunded.
