Sizes:
Choose a size approx. 10-15cm (4-6") less than your actual head size for a snug fit (sample is shown with 11cm negative ease). Hat lengths are with brim unfolded. Be sure to measure from the top of your crown to the base of your ear to check the required length and work additional ribbing if required (more info on this in pattern).
Finished sizes:
18 months-4 years: 31.5cm/12 ¼ in circumference and 22cm/8 ½ in long
Adult S: 38.5cm/15 ¼ in circumference and 27.5cm/11 in long
Adult M: 41cm/16 in circumference and 30cm/11 3/4 in long
Adult L: 43.5cm/17 in and 31cm/12 ¼ in long
Gauge:
24 stitches and 27 rows over 10cm/4 in over main pattern.

Needles:
4mm (US 6) circular needle or correct needle size to achieve gauge . You can use DPNS if you prefer. Pattern is needle neutral, but you may substitute your preferred method for small circumference knitting when decreasing the crown.

Cumbria by The Fibre Co. Worsted / 10 ply 60% Merino, 30% Masham, 10% Mohair in colourway Buttermere. Or any substitute light worsted yarn with which you can achieve gauge. Some testers found they could achieve gauge with DK yarn with a strand of lace weight added - if doing this be sure to check your row gauge as you may need to work a little extra ribbing or main rise of the hat if your row gauge is short.:

Adult S: 121m/133yds

Always allow extra yarn
