Aeque (Latin for equally) by Hilary Smith Callis is a pretty gradient cowl designed to mimic the look of an asymmetrical triangular shawl wrapped around the neck. Beginning with one stitch, Aeque is worked flat from side to side in Stockinette stitch with a simple stripe sequence that blends together 5 colors of fingering weight yarn. One little seam up the back joins it together. Aeque is a fun and quick knit that is perfect for using up small amounts of fingering weight yarn, such as Anzula’s perfectly-packaged Squishy Skeinettes. Go pastel, monochromatic, or bold – your Aeque is sure to look great!
GAUGE:
21 stitches & 34 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Stockinette Stitch
Meeting this exact gauge is not crucial, but any major differences will affect the size of the finished cowl as well as yarn requirements.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
22.5”/57 cm circumference at top opening; 8.5”/21.5 cm height at back of neck; 19.25”/49 cm height at longest point in front
