Emre Koc is the president and co-founder of Urth Yarns.
Emre was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. He is a third generation yarn-wholesaler. His grandfather started the company in the 1950s.
Emre left Turkey to attend the University of Virginia. When he returned, he assisted his mother in her yarn shop. He returned to the US and started selling garments knit in Turkey to boutiques across the country.
He founded Feza USA in 2004 and turned Feza Yarns into a well-known novelty yarn brand in the US.
Urth Yarns was founded in 2017 with the mission to give back to the people and the Earth.
Urth Yarns plants a tree for every skein of yarn sold. To date, Urth yarns has planeted over 200,000 trees in Africa!
Emre will tell you about Urth Yarns, where the yarn is sourced, how the yarn is dyed and the fabulous people behind the scenes in Turkey that bring us this beautiful yarn.
