Alchemical Transformation

Destination Alchemy

It’s the luminous, super-saturated colors that catch the eye, the tactile delight of the fibers. There is something in the exquisite nature of Alchemy Yarn, where it transcends its use value, with each lovely skein more a work of art for display than simply a functional item. Perhaps in response to this very problem, a new book called Destination Alchemy has just come out and we are pleased to be one of the featured stockists. You can find all the yarns for the patterns at the store, from the truly inventive Silken Straw,

Alchemy Silk Straw

to the decadence of Silk Purse,

Alchemy Silk Purse

and the sublime yarn-marriage of mohair and silk that is Haiku.

Alchemy Yarns Haiku

We have had a few models from the book on display at the store, with more to come. A truly sensory indulgence!

Customer Creations

Helga

First, we have Helga, showing off her own originally designed purse, knit with Blue Sky Alpaca Bulky and perfectly accessorized with bamboo handles and a wooden shawl pin. George had to get in on the photo action too!

Jenny

Next is Jenny, who was just in the Saturday morning Knit 101 class. This gorgeous shawl is one of her first projects. Very impressive! The pattern is Lonnie’s Ruffle Shawl of Many Colors and the yarn is Malabrigo worsted in the luscious color, velvet grapes.

Cadenza

Credenza

In music, cadenza refers to the point in a concerto when a vocal or instrumental soloist takes center stage and this most decidedly carries over into yarn, with Colinette’s latest offering. Cadenza is a D.K. weight yarn made from 100% superwash merino, making it perfect for medium weight socks and a great choice when knitting for babies. With its wonderful feel and luminous colors, this new addition is sure to be a stand out!
