We have many Japanese knitting magazines to thumb through for knitting inspiration! Also on offer are three Chart Symbols Discs made from recycled CDs by our very own Judy Sakaguchi. These discs are a handy tool for deciphering the symbols in the pattern charts. They’ve flown off the shelves, but you can always call to order if you’re interested in owning one. However, if you want the discs and the wealth of knowledge that Judy brings, then you should definitely sign up for her Japanese Knitting Pattern Basics class. The next session is on Sunday, May 31st from 4:00-6:00 pm. Check out the class schedule for more details.
Now in it’s fourth year, Socktoberfest is a “month-long celebration of socks” started by blogger Lolly Knitting Around. To join the festivities you can break out those hanks of sock yarn or try out that new pattern, then post the photos on the Socktoberfest Ravelry and Flickr groups. If you like a little mystery in your knitting, you can join the Mystery Sock Knit-along on Ravelry, run by Kristen of Through the Loops. Watch for a new installment of the pattern posted every Wednesday. Here on the ImagiKnit blog, next will be Sock Week, showcasing new and noteworthy sock yarns. Never made a sock before? Then sign up for Sock it to Me, our beginning sock class for an indoctrination. Errr, introduction!
The kids won’t be the only ones hitting the books now that September’s here. Learn a new skill, like how to crochet or the proper seam for that WIP occupying the bottom of the knitting basket. Get a jump start on Christmas presents with hats for everyone! Or get some guidance for making your process pain free with our ergonomics class.
As always, we offer our beginning class, Knit 101 on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings for anyone new to the craft or those starting over. With our selection of upcoming classes there is sure to be something for everyone. Be sure to check the schedule for more information and call or drop by the store to register.
