
Learn the essentials of making a sweater as you create a sweet and cozy, child-
sized cardigan with set-in sleeves from start to finish. This is a perfect class for people who have put there knitting away for awhile (yes, even years!) and are ready to get back to a hobby that will bring you relaxation, a sense of accomplishment and a supportive new community.
In this comprehensive beginner-friendly class, you'll gain the skills to:
• confidently read patterns
• choose suitable yarn
• make a good gauge swatch
• knit all parts of a sweater
• seam sleeves to the body
• make perfect button and buttonhole bands
• place and sew buttons
• create a neck trim
• properly block your garment for a professional finish.
There will be a meet and greet initial orientation on March 19th from 11:30 am to
12:15 pm where you get your supplies, meet your instructor and classmates,
and listen to Faina’s presentation on making a good swatch and measuring it. At the orientation they will receive a schedule for the rest of the class.
Instructor - Faina Goberstein
Faina Goberstein is an independent knitwear designer, author, and a professional teacher. Taking an early retirement from a long career as a math professor gave Faina a chance to let her creativity and long-time passion for knitwear design to become a second profession. She now teaches at live events and virtually for Vogue Knitting Live, Rowan Connect, Interweave Yarn Fest, and various venues such as guilds, fiber fests, and yarn shops locally, around the country and abroad.
