Free Pattern Friday: Gap-tastic Cowl

November 28, 2014

This is a fabulously quick and easy cowl to whip up this weekend (assuming you're not too full of pie and turkey!). We used one of our favorite yarns in the shop, Madelinetosh's ASAP, to make our sample.

The Gap-tastic Cowl has been around for a couple of years, but is still one of our favorite pattern recommendations for both beginner and veteran knitters. Simple seed stitch on size 13 needles works up quickly and becomes a cowl you'll want to grab every time you leave the house.

ASAP is an excellent choice for a squishy, colorful and amazingly warm Gap-tastic Cowl. It takes three skeins and 24" size 13 needles. You'll have one to gift (or keep!) within just a few hours.

Happy knitting!

Customer Creations: Adam's Menagerie

November 15, 2014

When we first met Adam, it seemed he was always on the hunt for very specific colors - bright stoplight yellow... the most neon of neon pinks... When he started sharing his creations with us, we quickly realized why!

He's on a major amigurumi kick! Above you'll find a crocheted manatee (pattern by Vox Mortuum) on the top left, a knitted snail on the top right (designed by Hansi Singh), "Marlon, the Biker Dog" (a pattern from Ana Yogui) on the bottom left and Adorably Kawaii's Sleepy Fox (his FIRST crochet project, if you can believe it!) on the bottom right.

But we have to admit, we still think this creation of his is our favorite...

This knitted wig (hence the most neon of neon pinks) is a free pattern on Knitty

Thanks for sharing, Adam!

Yarn Review: Shibui Maai

November 12, 2014

We have a new yarn just in from ShiBui and it is destined to be a store favorite – Maai

Maai (mah-ah-ee) is Japanese for interval, break or pause.  Maai is a DK weight luxurious blend of 70% baby alpaca and 30% merino with a chainette construction that creates a super soft, light and springy fabric with great stitch definition.  Maai is available in fourteen beautiful colors.  The lightness from the chainette construction and the softness and warmth from the alpaca make this the ideal yarn to use for next to skin garments and accessories that would be perfect for our San Francisco fall and winter weather.   I couldn’t help myself - I’ve already cast on for an Itaca shawl from Stephen West's 4th book, Made for Movement

Snuggle up with Maai this holiday season and make something truly special for you or a loved one!

Welcome to our new site!

November 04, 2014

As a 12-year anniversary gift to ourselves, we upgraded our servers and treated ourselves to a brand new website and cash registers for the shop.

Please pardon our dust as we settle in the new system. As you know if you have visited our shop, that's a LOT of yarn to move over! We are looking to improve and enhance several features on the web store throughout the next few weeks, so do check back often!

We are looking forward to a faster and more reliable shopping cart for both our domestic and international customers. In store customers will enjoy faster check out, paperless receipts upon request, and better inventory management.

If you experience any trouble using our website or have any suggestions, shoot us an e-mail to info@imagiknit.com. Thanks for stopping by!
