Free Pattern Friday: Garter Stitch Baby Kimono

The Garter Stitch Baby Kimono is quite beloved here at the shop. It's one of our most popular samples!

The Garter Stitch Baby Kimono is such a fantastic gift.  It's easy to put on, suitable for both baby boys and girls and deliciously "squishy".

The pattern calls for fingering weight yarn knit on 3 mm (US #2.5) needles.  For our shop sample, we opted for a sportweight yarn (Malabrigo Arroyo) which created a fabric that was even denser and squishier than the original.  It adds an extra dose of warmth and weight to the jacket.  Plus, we're head over heels for the color palette!

You can find the pattern here, which is sized between newborn and 6 months. Browse our selection of Arroyo and perhaps find yourself a fun project to start this weekend!  We used one skein for the newborn size, but two for the two larger sizes.

Happy knitting!
