Free Pattern Friday: Pure Worsted Home Decor

It seems we are always knitting for our loved ones.  We feel the urge to adorn newborns with handknit caps, dress our friends in cozy scarves and occasionally treat ourselves to a new cardigan or pullover.  On this “Free Pattern Friday”, we thought it would be fun to feature some ideas for a part of our lives often forgotten: our homes!

There are so many unexpected ways to add a knitted touch to your home (aside from your everyday afghan).  You can make some felted bowls using a bulky weight wool like Lamb’s Pride Bulky to store loose change and keys in your entryway.  You can practice your crochet skills by whipping up simple cotton coasters.  You could even create an heirloom table runner using any of our fantastic linen yarns.

Alegria from Manos del Uruguay in Stock

We are overjoyed to have Alegria (“joy” in Spanish) now in stock, a delectable sock weight yarn from Manos del Uruguay! A wonderfully machine-washable blend of soft merino wool and strong polyamide, Alegria produces lofty and long-lasting finished pieces.  We are loving it for socks, accessories and baby knits.  Don’t shy away from these colors; they’re wonderful!

Staff Creations: Allison’s Hooded Mecha Scarf

Don’t let this California rain get you down! Inspired by the amazing color range and dreamy drape of Mecha, Allison worked up a 3 skein hooded scarf.

Her scarf is large and in charge; it can be draped over the shoulders or wrapped around the neck for a toastier feel.

We are excited to offer this pattern for free for a limited time only with the purchase of the yarn to make it – three skeins of Mecha.  If you’re shopping with us online, please mention that you’d like pattern S865 in the “special instructions” section at checkout.

A lightweight 100% Mulberry Silk, Truesilk would make the perfect drapey garment or accessory with glamorous sheen.  Its chainette construction (think one big crochet chain!) will give you a silken piece that holds its shape.  Make sure to check out its accompanying pattern collection.
