Free Pattern Friday: Boneyard Shawl

Diane is hosting Free Pattern Friday this week!  To help get her in the spirit of our Stephen & Steven Fiberlicious Tour last week, she cast on for Stephen West’s Boneyard shawl.

boneyard1

The Boneyard shawl is one of those patterns you can knit up with almost anything.  It calls for a DK weight yarn but looks great in anything from fingering to a heavy worsted.  When Diane first saw the gorgeous samples of Shibui Heichi from our yarn rep, she knew she had to have some.  100% recycled silk in a worsted weight – what can be better for warm weather knitting?   And the colors are gorgeous!

She was looking to knit a scarf to wear to her son’s games and found the perfect brown and gold (Grounds and Solar) to represent his school’s colors.  She grabbed two skeins of each color and whipped this up in no time.

Gorgeous!  Jules was happy to model the finished product.  The Boneyard shawl is a perfect beginner to intermediate project that knits up quick and can be easily adjusted.  Snag the free copy here and browse our wide selection of Heichi to see if there’s a color combo you can’t live without.

Happy knitting!

Free Pattern Friday: Slippers for Two

As the weather heats up, we sometimes find ourselves grabbing our crochet hooks more often than our knitting needles!  And what better project to whip up when your patience is dwindling than a quick pair of cozy house slippers?

Free Pattern Friday: Crocheting with Chunky Mochi

Want an instant gratification project this weekend?  If you know your way around a crochet hook, you could whip up a cozy, self-striping cowl in no time!

chunkymochicollage Today we are featuring two free patterns that use one of our favorite yarns, Chunky Mochi.  Using a P sized hook, you can select either the short or long version.  The short version (shown on the top left) uses two balls of yarn.  The free pattern can be found here.  The longer version (shown on the bottom right) can be wrapped once around the neck and uses six balls.  The free pattern for the long version can be found here.

Chunky Mochi is so soft and squishy you’ll never want to put it down!  It’s so much fun to watch the colors shift as you work.  Pick a shade you can’t resist and get hooking!
