What a treat it was to have Sabrina Gschwandtner in the store. It was fascinating to learn about the process involved in making her book KnitKnit: Profiles and Projects from Knitting’s New Wave. How the supposedly straightforward concept of each person interviewed identifying themselves as artist, craftsman, designer or knitter, speaks volumes of how dynamic knitting is today. Sabrina deftly captures and explores this tension. If you haven’t already picked up a copy, do.

Right after Thanksgiving, Dave and Terri Gentszch of Ozark Handspun came for a visit. They brought a bushel of new colors and some fabulous samples. Allison is wearing a shawl that you have to see to believe. Come down to the store to see all the beautiful, mohairy bounty!
Back in October, Allison took off for sunnier shores in the form of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay. While Rio was gorgeous, Iguazu falls a spectacular natural phenomenon, and dancers tangoed in the streets of Buenos Aires – the yarn highlight was Uruguay. Allison had what some would consider a Yarn Fantasy, she visited Malabrigo HQ. Now there’s a holiday slide show I know you’ll appreciate!
Here she is with Malabrigo owners, Carla, Tobias and Antonio. Do you see all those hanks?

Allison taught a class on knitting in the round.

This photo. I think the look on her face says it all. Looking at a beautiful pile of Malabrigo like that, I don’t know how Allison restrained the urge to dive right into it. Hand Painted Merino Heaven!
