Time to brag! Our customers have been in to share some of their newest finished projects.
Erin knit matching ponchos for cousins Esme and Miyun. Using Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Bulky and the Ann Norling Top Down Capelet pattern, Erin grabbed “Neon” for Esme (left) and “ImagiKnit” for Miyun (right). We loved being able to see our custom colorway knit up into something so fabulous!
We are excited to announce our latest trunk show! We just received some of Julie Hoover’s newest designs featuring one of our favorite yarns, Shibui Pebble.
Julie Hoover is an incredibly talented designer and photographer. She appreciates clean, modern design and has a true love for textiles that shows in her work.
We will be hosting this trunk show through August 3rd. Be sure to stop by the shop before then to check out these beautiful garments in person. Can’t make it? Not to worry! We will be spotlighting each design on the blog and on Facebook throughout the week.
Suzie is certainly no stranger to our blog as she often drops by the shop to show off her latest masterpiece. Like usual, we couldn’t help but swoon.
Suzie came in with a pattern from an older Vogue Knitting Magazine she had in her stash. Since the yarn they called for was discontinued, we got creative and found a substitute. She needed something super lightweight that would drape well but still show off the beautiful lacework.
We showed Suzie our newest yarn from Jade Sapphire, Khata, which is an incredible silk and yak blend. Thankfully, it was the perfect gauge for her pattern. The finished product was warm, lusciously soft and just perfect for her pattern. Thanks for sharing, Suzie!
Mohair with silk is truly a match made in heaven. We love how incredibly lightweight yet warm this blend can be.
The combination of mohair and silk lends itself very well to oversized wraps, shawls and neckwarmers. Since these yarns are so fine, it can be tricky to get started, but before long you will be knitting along with ease! Try a pointy needle with some grip (like the Addi Lace needles or Knitter’s Pride Dreamz) when knitting silk/mohair blends.
Debbie Bliss’s Party Angel and Angel Print recently moved to our sale section to make way for some Fall/Winter 2014 yarns. Party Angel features a subtle sparkle that will add just a touch of tasteful glam to your next knitting project. Angel Print is dyed to stripe slowly as you knit. Choose a simple pattern and go – your shawl or scarf will take minimal work to look fabulous. Try one out before they’re gone!
Diane is here with her second yarn review of Rowan’s 2014 Fall/Winter line. She thoroughly enjoyed knitting with this sumptuous cashmere blend, Finest.
Rowan Finest is an extra-fine merino (50%), cashmere (20%) and alpaca (30%) fingering weight blend – what a wonderful combination! It is sure to become a favorite luxury yarn for fine handknits. The resulting fabric is so wonderfully soft with excellent stitch definition. I recommend using pointy needles with this yarn since the yarn is so delicate. Finest is available in twelve beautiful colors. The Rowan Finest book has vintage inspired patterns designed by Sarah Hatton using this decadent yarn. An item made from Rowan Finest is truly something special. We can’t wait to see what you make!
