Our customers have been on fire lately! It seems like we get to admire a new finished object every day here at the shop. Here’s a recap of the latest creations.
Lydia (left) is shown rocking her newest scarf. She knit the Saroyan Scarf (a free pattern!) using Tosh Vintage. She was actually doubling up on knits the day she visited. Her hat was knit with Malabrigo Mecha!
Ann (top right) dropped in to show off her latest design. She has a knack for striping different colors and textures together to make patterns she sees in books her own.
In the right center is a stunning cabled coat. We love the subtle X and O design – that is no walk in the park to knit!
Roslyn (bottom right) made a beautiful version of Vodka Lemonade using the Plymouth DK Merino Superwash yarn. Not only is it nice and springy, it’s also machine wash and dry.
As the weather heats up, we sometimes find ourselves grabbing our crochet hooks more often than our knitting needles! And what better project to whip up when your patience is dwindling than a quick pair of cozy house slippers?
This pattern calls for two balls in coordinating colors of Katia’s Big Ribbon yarn. The pattern features a photo tutorial, so crocheting a pair will be a breeze! Click here to download a free copy.
You could also peek at the RibbonXL for other color options. Creating different color combos for your slippers will be the best part!
In honor of the first annual Fiberlicious Tour, Stephen West and Steven Berg have been collaborating with dyers across the country to create some exclusive commemorative colorways.
Stock is extremely limited and will be available for presale this weekend (June 28 and 29). Get a preview and do your shopping before the Westknits workshop on July 1! Want a little sneak peek?
As you probably know, we love Madelinetosh. Joining our vast collection of Tosh colors is the commemorative colorway “Knitting is Dead Sexy”. StevenBe describes the color as “intense, colorful and vibrant – not for the faint of heart”. We will be receiving a limited number of skeins in Vintage, Tosh Merino Light and Sock.
Brand new to ImagiKnit is Wild Hare Fiber Studio yarns, arriving in 5 special colorways. Pinnacle is a merino wool sock yarn with nylon for durability. We are counting down the minutes until we can see these fabulous Zebra colorways in person!
Inspired by Stephen West’s home in Amsterdam, The Red Light District collection (by Three Irish Girls) blends coral and orchid with smokey gray for a naughty edge. The Sin City collection seeks its inspiration from the opulence and lavishness of Las Vegas. Purple, copper and olive blend together in a seductive combo.
Alchemy has developed two colorways just for the tour. Evocative is a bright blend of orange, pink and red. Ambrosial is a cooler combination of green, blue and purple. We have ordered both colors in the bases Silken Straw and Haiku. Silken Straw is a 100% silk tape yarn that softens as you work with it. Haiku is a luscious silk and mohair blend. Ideally you combine both yarns to make a heavenly fabric.
On Monday, the boys will show you what you can create with these luxury yarns. There is still room in our Trunk Show Extravaganza and Westknits workshop, so give us a call to register!
Are you joining us for the Trunk Show Extravaganza on Monday June 30?
Here’s what you’ll want to know! We are hosting a yarn preview this weekend before the trunk show. Stop by and enjoy a special presale of some of the exclusive yarns commemorating the tour. For a sneak peek, check out our recent blog post.
Though we had you select a one-hour slot for the trunk show, this was only for crowd control reasons as a way to make sure everyone is able to get a consultation. You are welcome to stay for the duration of the event (4-7 PM). It will be a blast!
Show us your fiberlicious knits! Wear a handknit item to the trunk show and be entered to win a door prize. You’ll receive two entries if you wear an item designed by Stephen West or Steven Berg.
Have a yarn in your stash that you have been coveting for years, but can’t figure out what to do with it? Bring it by! The boys will gladly help you destash by finding the perfect design or yarn to pair it with.
BYON! Bring your own needles (and crochet hooks). Come prepared to shop, but it will be fun to start your swatch with Stephen and Steven’s guidance. It would also be wise to bring a selection of essential notions (stitch markers, Knit Chek or tape measure, tapestry needles, scissors, etc). Practice yarn of varying thicknesses and textures will be helpful. A notebook and pen will be essential! This is true of both the trunk show and Westknits workshop on July 1.
See you there! Feel free to reach out to us by phone or e-mail if you have any additional questions or would like to enroll. You can find at at firstname.lastname@example.org or (415) 621-6642.
Inspired by a sweater Diane had knit, Chita was eager to start her own Veronika.
This comfy, oversized pullover by Cocoknits is worked seamlessly using short rows to create the curved hem. Though it calls for a DK/sport weight yarn, Chita opted for a lofty fingering weight yarn to create a drapier top. Her Veronika is made with Tosh Merino Light in the color Cherry. Fabulous, huh?
Chita modified her top slightly by adding extra rows to the back, creating a high-low hem. Since it’s worked in the round, adding the extra inches where she wanted them was a breeze!
Check out the Veronika pattern here and view all the stunning colors available in Tosh Merino Light.
