The first offering for Sock Week is Bambino from Chameleon Colorworks. Made up of 60% merino superwash, 30% bamboo and 10% nylon, the combination of the bamboo gives the yarn a wonderful shine as well as offering the knitter something a little lighter than pure wool socks. But really, it’s all about the color!
Bambino is available in multi-colored hand paints with wonderful names like Lichen (pictured) and is perfectly suited for patterns like Jaywalker (Ravelry link) or for those times when you just want to let the yarn do the talking. For cables or other intricate patterns, that’s when you break out the semi-solid shadow dyed variety, which has a lovely tone-on-tone effect. Subtle variation for visual interest, but nary a distraction from the stitches. Something for all your sock knitting needs.
